HEALTH EDUCATION RESOURCE CENTERS
The Northeastern Vermont AHEC has partnered with the five hospitals in our region and the Hardwick Area Patch office to establish Community Health Education Resource Centers. Each of the Centers provides health information for community members, hospital staff, and community health care practitioners in a variety of ways, including books, journals, video/audio tapes, CD-ROM’s, internet access, and referrals to local health care and human service agencies.
Community Health Education Resource Centers play an important role in optimizing patient and family education, as well as providing quick access to and for clinicians. Resource Centers have an opportunity to help consumers gain access to quality information that can result in more informed decision-making. In fact, research has shown that effective patient education is instrumental in decreasing the length of hospital stays.
