In 2007, the Northeastern Vermont AHEC was awarded a federal Learn & Serve America Grant by the Northwest Connecticut AHEC to implement their model Youth Health Service Corps (YHSC) for the first time in Vermont.

The YHSC is an award winning health careers program for high school students that integrates training, volunteering and service learning in order to make learning about health care careers meaningful to students and beneficial to the community.
