Pathways to Health Careers Conference
COMING NOVEMBER 2008....
1st Annual "PATHWAYS TO HEALTH CAREERS" Conference
ATTENTION VERMONT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!
If you’ve been taking steps toward a health career and want more support, consider applying to attend Take the Next Step! Pathways to Health Careers, an advanced conference for students interested in health careers.
Maybe you’ve attended our Vermont AHEC Health Career programs- class presentations, career fair booths, Shadow Days, MedQuest or the Youth Health Service Corps. We’ve heard that students wanted an advanced experience- something beyond high school classes, job shadows, and volunteering.
So the Vermont AHECs developed Take the Next Step.....
YOU plus 100 motivated high school students plus 20 workshops and skill sessions plus A faculty of inspiring health care professionals and medical students plus 2 days and one overnight on a college campus equals... a picture of your future in health care and how you get there!
We provide housing in supervised dorms, meals, instruction, activities, materials and an experienced staff available 24 hours per day at a ratio of 10:1.
Cost: Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Vermont Department of Labor, you pay just $40. The fee is due only if you are accepted. You are also responsible for your own transportation to and from the event.
Apply by September 24th! If we accept your application, you will be notified by mail of our decision by October 1, 2008. You must confirm your enrollment and pay your $40 fee by October 8, 2008 in order to reserve your slot.
TEAMWORK IS KEY IN HEALTH CARE
No team can function without committed members. Students must agree to attend the entire event, to read a packet of materials in advance, to actively participate and support fellow students, and to respect health and safety rules during the event.
