Access to Information Resources and Communication Technology

If you are a Primary Care Practitioner in Caledonia, Essex, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans or Washington County of Vermont, the Northeastern Vermont AHEC can help you to connect to the information you need.

STRATEGIES FOR OBTAINING INFORMATION

INDEPENDENT SEARCHES

  • Internet - from home, office, public library, hospital medical library.
Many abstracts and full text journal articles are free through Medline, Healthfinder, VTMednet, Health Reference Center and your professional organization’s (i.e., AAFP) sites.

  • Medline -use Loansome Doc by registering individually on form and screen (Use “VTUVER” for your electronic search source when it asks for it on screen).
AHEC supports its region’s primary care providers by paying the basic fee.
ASSISTED SEARCHES

  • Your local hospital’s Medical Library
Trained Information Specialists at each of our region’s hospital Medical Libraries are available to assist with finding and retrieving resources.

  • Your local hospital’s Community Health Information and Resource Center

  • UVM Dana Medical Library
No cost to you as a north country provider; AHEC will pay the basic fee. Register individually on the Loansome Doc paper form (not on screen too) and send to the address on the bottom of form. Make your request via phone (802-656-2201) e-mail (dana@zoo.uvm.edu), US mail, or fax (802-656-0762). Please mention NEVAHEC as payer each time you request.
