Student Support
SERVICES WE PROVIDE TO UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT MEDICAL AND ALLIED HEALTH STUDENTS AND RESIDENTS
The regional AHECs serve as a bridge between students on campus and community based health care providers, practices, and programs in numerous ways, including (but not limited to):
- Directing you to community projects and programs that utilize your expertise
- Encouraging you to meet the rural providers at event such as the Rural Health Symposium
- Providing Laptop computers for your use during a rotation when necessary (such as when the practice has no Internet service, or when electronic medical records are required)
- Providing pagers when your preceptor requests them
- Providing information about the community and the local hospital you will be working in
- Providing Practice Profiles to your Clerkship Coordinators
- Connecting you to other health providers and services in the area, such as physical therapy or public health programs
- Providing textbooks to your preceptors and to the Resource Room in the AHEC Residence for your use off campus
- Providing appropriate housing and emergency contacts during your rural rotations
- Providing materials for any community presentations you may have during a rotation (such as Career Fair)
Contact us to find out what we can do for you. For questions about housing contact Mary Ann Nute. All other questions about student support should be directed to our Education Resource Coordinator, Bob Swartz.
